A Singaporean woman and her hopes & dreams: Is she ambitious enough?

Singaporean woman

According to a recent survey, a growing number of men are looking to marry ambitious women who are business-savvy – indeed, times are tough, so more and more men prefer marrying someone who can help them with their careers. It is reported that Singaporean women are the most switched-on ladies from Asia, so they are probably ideal candidates on the market. I’ve spoken to a Singaporean lady who is looking to start her own business – she says ideally, she should marry a western man and start their business together. This is the interview with the Singaporean woman:

  1. How many years have you been in business?

“I would say two years because I started working on my own website casually in 2018. However, I did not generate a single income from it up to this day.”

  1. What kind of business education have you received?

“As a Singaporean woman, I’m proud of my background. I studied Graduate Certificate in Business Management at university. I must say that none of the knowledge I learned from it is transferable to the business.”

  1. Which business books have you read?

  • Rich Dad Poor Dad – Robert Kiyosaki
  • Rich Dad’s Guide to Investing – Robert Kiyosaki
  • Increase Your Financial IQ – Robert Kiyosaki
  • Rich Woman – Kim Kiyosaki
  • Why Men Don’t Listen and Women Can’t Read Maps – Allan & Barbara Pease
  • Body Language Book – Allan & Barbara Peaseladies from Asia
  1. What are your existing business skills?

  • Integrity – I stand for something bigger than myself instead of just doing the right thing.
  • I treat people equally just the way I want to be treated.
  • I am enthusiastic, so I lead by example. If I want people to follow me, then I have to lead them with enthusiasm.
  • I have the ability to understand my own strengths and weaknesses.
  1. What are your business achievements so far in your life?

  • Published Book One.
  • Built my own website and Social Media pages such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Completed Book Two but yet to publish.

  1. In your opinion, what are your strengths in business?

  • Ability to recover from failure – I am looking for a business coach who can lead me in the right direction to take my start-up business to the next level.
  • I have confident in my interactions with clients, recognize what is good about myself and others, what value I can bring to the table in any situation and express it.
  • I am curious in acknowledging that I don’t know everything and recognize that.
  • Creative thinking where I have experienced a sudden epiphany, a better way of doing things after an extended period of time or an idea borne out of improvisation.how to meet asians
  1. In your opinion, what are your strengths in life?

  • I am an enthusiastic Singaporean woman and hence I stimulate opportunities for growth and positive change.
  • I am self-motivated be it in business or spiritual. I seem to have this inner burning desire fueled by my passion to do more outside of work and with my life, so I can have total freedom and take full control with my time instead of having my employer dictates what I can or can’t do.
  • I am a compassionate Singaporean woman and I value people for who they are.
  • I am dependable by following through with assigned tasks.
  1. According to people around you, what are your strengths?

  • Self-reliant
  • Confident
  • Enthusiastic
  • Motivated

  1. In which ways have you got paid so far? (This not only includes jobs you’ve had, but also includes other things you’ve done that have brought you money.)

  • My property investment which is positively geared from day one in 2013;
  • My 9-to-5 jobs that I receive fortnightly pay check.
  1. What are your weaknesses in business AND in life?

  • Not making smart decisions when it comes to spending on low-entry workshops and hence, it leads to my unsuccessful business to this day.
  • Fail to seek help for business advice from someone who is already successful with their existing business such as a Business Coach.
  • Not controversial enough.best asian wife
  1. What kind of negative feedback have you received from people around you at work AND in life?

  • I should just stick to my 9-to-5 job and be grateful that I still have a job to pay my bills every month and put food on the table.
  • It is not easy to become an entrepreneur and I should not waste my time taking on that challenge.
  • As a Singaporean woman, I should just find a rich partner and be content with my life.
  • I should stop learning after school and should not venture into entrepreneurship.
  • I can never be successful.
  1. What is the biggest mistake you’ve made in your career?

“Wasting my time and opportunity cost in attending low-entry workshops and the ripple effect of meeting low-quality people that lead to my unsuccessful business achievement.”

  1. Fear of Failure Test: From a scale of 1 to 10, what is your risk tolerance in your opinion? (1 means very low risk tolerance; 10 means very high risk tolerance.)

“My risk tolerance is 5.”

  1. Fear of Success Test: If one day your business becomes hugely successful, you will possibly grow out of your romantic relationship, friendships and some of your family ties (yes, I said “family”, too). That means when you become an extremely successful businesswoman, your romantic partner will possibly feel insecure; your friends and family members will probably dislike the change without consciously knowing it, although they all say “we support what you do”. And you will see obvious flaws in these relationships (you didn’t see those flaws in the past & you can’t see those flaws now). When that situation happens in the future, it will become a higher-level problem to have and to solve. Can you actually, honestly accept that?beautiful asian girls

“I have already experience friends who feel insecure of themselves after they discovered that I have started writing a book and doing things to improve myself to be a better version of myself than yesterday. They keep convincing me to give it up because I can never be successful. Eventually I chose to stay away from them because they do not serve any purpose in my life anymore. I’m an ambitious Singaporean woman.”

“As for my family, they will always be my family no matter what. I love them and if one day they feel inferior of themselves because of me being hugely successful, I can choose to spend less time with them but not avoid them entirely because they are still my family. Blood is always thicker than water. That’s what I believe in as a Singaporean woman.”

“When I become an extremely successful businesswoman, if my romantic partner starts to feel insecure of himself, I cannot help him because the feeling of insecurity is in him and he has to learn how to address that issue himself. Only by addressing that issue himself then he will learn to overcome his own insecurity. He can choose to step up to the plate or leave if he feels that my success is a burden to him because only a real man will not be threatened by his woman’s success. Because I’m a Singaporean woman, I strongly believe if he becomes hugely successful one day, he does not want a woman who feels insecure of herself because it will feel like clockwork trying to look after her wellbeing and make her happy all the time.”
